Please join us for a musical celebration in honor and memory of our dear friend, Carmen Helena Téllez on Sunday, September 25, at 4pm in Auer Hall. Carmen established a huge legacy over a 20 year period in Bloomington, during which time she was professor of choral conducting, directed the Latin American Music Center, and directed the Contemporary Vocal Ensemble. With numerous groundbreaking artistic endeavors, influencing an entire generation of choral conductors, singers, and instrumentalists at IU, it’s only fitting that a celebration of her extraordinary life will be marked by a concert with performances by the contemporary vocal ensemble NOTUS, directed by Dominick DiOrio, guest pianist Natasha Stojanovska, and an ensembles under the direction of Carolann Buff, Caio Guimarães Lopes, and Eric Meincke. The program will include choral and instrumental works by Mario Lavista, Jennifer Higdon, Han Lash, and Carmen Helena Téllez.
