On the 80th anniversary of the School of Musical Arts University of Costa Rica, the Historical Musical Archives at the University of Costa Rica and the Latin American Music Center (IU Jacobs School of Music) come together to share and promote the legacy of composers from Latin America. The collaboration continues after the LAMC’s “String Music of Rocío Sanz Quirós” event from Thursday, October 06.
On Thursday, October 13 the School of Musical Arts University of Costa Rica will feature a concert that includes works selected from the collections preserved at the Latin American Music Center and by the families of the honored composers. These works will be heard for the first time in Costa Rica, thanks to this collaboration! They will be celebrating the legacy of Roque Cordero (Panamá, 1917-2008), Graciela Paraskevaidis (Argentina/Uruguay, 1940-2017), Harold Gramatges (Cuba, 1918-2008), Carlos Fariñas (Cuba, 1934-2002), Isabel Aretz (Argentina/Venezuela, 1909-2005), and Jorge Sarmientos (Guatemala, 1931-2012).
This concert will be in-person at the School of Music Arts University of Costa Rica and will be live-streamed via the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSLueN-Ekdg
