“... Cléa Galhano and Rosana Lanzelotte gave a splendid recital under the title Les goûts Reunis at Wigmore Hall and it was indeed a rare experience... was played in excellent style...this was a recital of much musical enjoyment and no little distinction.”
— Musical Opinion, London
Two Italian/Brazilians, two musicians, a chance meeting. Cléa Galhano, who has lived in the USA since 1992, performed a recorder and harpsichord concert for a school assembly one afternoon. After the per- formance, a little girl told her that her aunt in Brazil played the harpsichord. Ana Paula, the little girl, was Rosana Lanzielotte’s niece. Shortly thereafter, Lanzelotte and Galhano met. Their common nationality and solid musical education from the Royal Conservatory of the Hague, Holland brought them even closer together. The result of this shared background and chance meeting was the Lanzelotte/Galhano Duo. The Duo’s first concert was in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1995. This performance revealed the artists’ strong musical bond and resulted in the formation of a permanent partnership. Since then, the Duo has performed in Brazil, Rome and at the prestigious Wigmore Hall,London and Weill Hall, Carnegie Hall, New York always receiving acclaimed reviews.
The Lanzelotte/Galhano Duo’s repertoire includes favorite pieces from the Italian, French and German Baroque periods. The Duo also emphasizes its heritage by performing contemporary music with popular Brazilian rhythms.
This performance, "Lundu Brasileiro," will include music by Antônio dos Reis Rayol (1863-1904), Ernesto Nazareth (1863-1934), Kilza Setti (b. 1932), Edmundo Villani-Côrtes (b. 1930), and others. The repertoire includes Villani-Côrtes: Duas Meninas "Sonhadora e Brejeira" (2010), a work dedicated to Rosana Lanzelotte and Cléa Galhano.
