Consummate steelpan musician Liam Teague is professor of music and head of steelpan studies at Northern Illinois University. In this presentation, Teague will share reflections on his formative years in Trinidad and Tobago’s vibrant steelband scene of the 1980s-1990s and discuss his international career as a leading steelpan performer, composer, arranger, and educator. The presentation will be accompanied by video clips that illustrate a few of Teague’s compositions and commissions of works by other composers, as well as his collaborations with diverse orchestras and ensembles throughout the world.
