Soprano Adriana Nicole Torres Díaz is pursuing a Master of Music in Voice Performance degree at the IU Jacobs School of Music under the guidance of Carol Vaness. Hailing from Puerto Rico, Torres Díaz earned undergraduate degrees in voice at the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico and biology at the University of Puerto Rico. Before coming to IU, she studied with Zoraida López and Diana Alvarado. Torres Díaz has been part of the cast of Suor Angelica (Cercatrice) under the direction of Antonio Barasorda and Roselín Pabón, and Così fan tutte (Despina) in the Third San Luis Opera Festival under the baton of Linus Lerner. With IU Jacobs School of Music Opera Theater, she has performed in Xerxe (Atalanta) under the direction of Kevin Murphy and Michael Shell, The Magic Flute (Papagena) under the direction of Arthur Fagen and Shell, La Rondine (Lisette) under the direction of Louis Lohraseb and Crystal Manich, Don Giovanni (Zerlina) under the direction of Lohraseb and Shell, and Ainadama (Niña 1) under the direction of David Neely, Jeffrey Buchman, and Rosa Mercedes. She has also participated in WIUX in a project called Song for Skeptics, and with IU Latin American Music Center as a soloist. She has done master classes with Justino Díaz, Kristin Dauphinais, Joel Prieto, Taylor Stilson, Olga Perez Flora and Marilyn Taylor. Torres Diaz also interpretated the role of Venus in the premier of Pluto, a contemporary opera composed by Michael Polo, at the Vienna Summer Music Festival.
