Colombian clarinetist Dr. Javier Vinasco is director of Latinx Music and associate professor of music at the University of Northern Colorado School of Music. Vinasco has specialized in the performance of Latin American music, an effort which is available in his several solo albums, with more than 150 works recorded, one of them which was nominated to the Latin Grammy in the Best Tango Album category. In his more than 50 performances as soloist with relevant Latin American orchestras, as well as in recitals in Japan, Europe, and the Americas, he has performed multiple premieres by Latin American composers, including several works dedicated to him. In 2020, he founded Clarinete Mestizo, an educational digital platform to promote the music for clarinet from Latin America. Vinasco earned a doctorate in music from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, a degree he obtained with the Alfonso Caso Medal, the highest distinction of this university. He is the Colombian National Chairperson at the International Clarinet Association and a Yamaha, Wurlitzer, Cero Records and Légère Reeds Artist.
Steinway Artist Dr. Lei Weng enjoys a successful international career as an accomplished pianist, a dedicated teacher, and a sought-after adjudicator and clinician. Hailed as “a colorist of exemplary control” by the New York Concert Review for his sold-out Carnegie Hall debut, he has performed at prestigious venues around the world. Dr. Weng is the Founder and Director of the Colorado International Piano Academy & Festival, an intensive piano program that take place at UNC in the summer. Dr. Weng holds degrees of BM from the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, MM and DMA from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
