A native of Coari, Amazonas, Violinist and Music Educator Raimundo Nilton holds a Master of Music in Jazz Studies Performance from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, under the guidance of pianist and arranger David Loeb and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Brasília. He studied jazz and blues improvisation with John Blake, Matt Glaser, and Darol Anger, and studied free improvisation with Eugene Friesen at Berklee College of Music in Boston (1997). From June 1986 to July 2019, he was a tenured violin teacher at CEP (Brasília School of Music). He has taught and performed in several summer courses in Brazil and the United States, always promoting Brazilian music. His first CD, entitled "Violinando," sponsored by the Villa Lobos Foundation of the Manaus City Hall's Department of Culture, showcases various styles of Brazilian music, such as xote, baião, frevo, quadrilha, choro, samba, and bossa nova. It includes compositions by composers from Amazonas, Adriano Giffoni, and the great Hamilton de Holanda. His second CD, entitled "Dez Dias da Obra de Hermeto Pascoal," sponsored by the FAC (Art and Culture Support Fund) of the Federal District's Department of Culture, contains 10 songs from the "Calendar do Som" book.
